Describe your business: Wheeler Legal PLLC assists entrepreneurs and business owners by providing legal services such as structuring businesses, preparing internal agreements/policies, and drafting/ reviewing contracts to ensure the proper legal protection is provided.
What’s your professional background: I started my career working in finance at a large technology company on the Space Coast before obtaining my law degree from Stetson University, College of Law. Before I started Wheeler Legal PLLC, I worked for in house legal departments and for a boutique law firm focusing on commercial litigation where I handled a variety of business disputes. My litigation experience taught me what agreements need to contain to stand up to a legal challenge and ways to protect my clients' rights before issues arise. As a small business owner myself, I am perfectly situated to understand the needs and issues other small businesses encounter.
Your business philosophy: At Wheeler Legal, we focus on having a long term relationship with our clients. We see our representation as a truly collaborative “partnership” and view our clients’ interests as our own.
Biggest challenge: The biggest challenge my business has is competing with technology. I meet with a lot of clients after they have done internet research and this has definitely changed the role of the attorney to educating the client in new ways like sorting through reliable and unreliable information the client may have found in their research and counseling on whether their specific facts will actually bring them to the result they thought it would.
Proudest moment as a businessperson: I always feel proud when a client refers my firm to their family or friends. Referrals signify the highest level of trust and confidence in my firm’s performance. When I see a client’s business thrive, it’s the most rewarding experience.
Business advice: My advice is that nobody can do it all on their own so build a team around you that can guide you toward success. Good advice can be worth far more than it costs, and it would be unwise to make the financial and time commitment of running a business without spending a relatively small amount to ensure the right people are involved in helping to build a solid foundation. With the proper team in place, you can just focus on running your business.
What’s next? What are your future plans for your business? Wheeler Legal plans to grow and assist more businesses and entrepreneurs in Brevard County.
